Wichita Technology Ventures, L.L.C. (WTV), founded in 1994, is a seed and early-stage venture capital fund managed by the Investment Team of Wichita Technology Corporation. WTV's "seed" money typically represents the first formal money invested after founders, friends and family. WTV employs the strictest investment standards and places a strong emphasis on opportunities characterized as being early-stage, high-growth businesses with significant return potential. WTV investment decisions are driven by a number of key criteria such as strong management capabilities, a unique and identifiable value proposition and other factors that together will yield a strong return on investment (ROI) for the fund. WTV typically looks at optimizing opportunities to invest in high-growth technologies with committed entrepreneurs located primarily in the state of Kansas.
Since inception, WTV has invested over $4.00M dollars of seed capital that has been leveraged with over $150M dollars from private investment. To date the fund has invested in 40 technology companies representing over 60 patented technologies. On an industry basis, these companies represent diverse technology applications operating in areas such as advanced materials, biosciences, broadband & telecommunications, food & beverage, manufacturing, medical devices and software & IT.
Given WTV's seed and early-stage investment philosophy, the fund makes investments with the expectation that exit opportunities will often range from up to five to seven years' duration. With an investment horizon of this duration, the fund will look to achieve an annualized rate of return ranging between 30-60% upon exit. Average investment size of the fund will typically range from $25,000 to $200,000.
